Thermomix Mexican Pulled Pork

ALToM: Carnitas (Mexican Pulled Pork)

You will find Carnitas served at almost every taco stand in Mexico; typically on a soft fresh tortilla with coriander, red onion and the house salsa. Traditionally, Carnitas (which translates to “little meats”) are made by simmering pork in a big copper pot with a huge amount of pork lard - I have created a simplified and healthier version while still capturing the authentic flavours of this delicious Michoacán dish.

  1. Don’t have a slow cooker so cooked in oven 140C fan for 6hrs……just do it! 3kg pork shoulder on special from local butcher for £20…fed 15! With homemade flatbreads – demolished – close on beating husband’s smoke snake pork shoulder…..you won’t be sorry

  2. We loved this. So easy to make and the pork fell apart beautifully after 8 hours in the slow cooker. We served it with the guacamole, chipotle salsa and red rice in tortillas. Enjoyed by all. Thanks for another great recipe.

  3. I followed the instructions, even cooked a bit longer than required it did not just fall apart with forks. It was dry. I had to cut meat off and put in thermi and shred it. This is the only recipe of yours that has failed me so far so I can’t complain. I may try it again and put it on high on slow cooker instead of low and see if that makes a difference.

  4. The kids and hubby are loving this recipe! They think its your best slow cooked meat recipe to date 🙂 I bulk make it and portion pack for the freezer. Makes for super simple quick meals, lunch wrap fillings or lunch for the hubby.

  5. Made this today but just chopped up left over roast pork then put it in thermi shredded it with the dry spice mix, made the sauce up and heated it up on the stove – AMAZING – such a great use of left overs. Will try the original recipe soon

  6. Made this the night after I got the ebook
And I’m in love loved loved loved it the kids devoured it no problems at
The only thing hubby said he would have loved it with gravy in a roll instead of on the side with veggies lol
