Raw Spiced Rum Balls Thermomix

What can I say? I LOVE this Raw Spiced Rum Balls Thermomix recipe. They’re crazy yummy and way healthier than traditional rum balls. If you’re trying to stay skinny this Christmas, but want something relatively guilt free on the table to enjoy – these are for you.

I recommend using Kraken or a vanilla based spiced rum for them, and make them the night before so the flavours have time to develop.

I hope you enjoy my balls.

Ingredients

  • 12 medjool dates - pitted
  • 50 g sultanas
  • 50 g spiced rum
  • 20 g orange juice
  • 200 g raw almonds
  • 90 g dessicated coconut - plus extra for decorating
  • 40 g coconut oil
  • 10 g raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla paste/essence
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  • Add dates, sultanas, rum and orange juice to an airtight container for 1 hour to soak. Shake periodically.
  • Add all ingredients to mixer bowl, blend 15 sec/speed 8 using spatula to combine.
  • Use spatula to redistribute ingredients, and blend for another 15 sec/speed 8/MC on.
  • Shape into walnut sized balls and coat with desiccated coconut.
  • Refrigerate overnight for best flavor.

Notes

Makes ~30 walnut sized rum balls
You can use dark rum if you prefer, or substitute the rum with orange juice for a non alcoholic version
I highly recommend you make these at least the night before, for the flavors to develop - they taste very strong to begin with but once the alcohol has a chance to develop it lessens.
