Why we love to prepare these ‘Dump & Go Bags’?

  • ⭐️ Maximising Kitchen Time: Prep multiple meals at once while you already have the cutting board out.

  • ⭐️ Budget-Friendly: Perfect for bulk-buying ingredients and cutting down on grocery bills.

  • ⭐️ Minimise Weeknight Meal Stress: Drastically reduces your active cooking and cleanup time when life gets hectic.

These aren’t traditional dump bags recipes. We cook some of our sauces first if needed, to develop flavour and retain consistency. We prefer our slow cooker meals to be full flavoured!!

⚠️ Important Equipment Note

These recipes have been specifically written and tested for standard slow cookers (approx 5-6LT). Because of this, they are not suitable for the TM6/TM7 slow cook function. These have been carefully written to quantities suitable for a 5-6Lt slow cooker so they do not dry out or overcook.

🕒 Top Tips for Optimising Your Prep Time & Storage

  • Double Up: The recipes can be doubled for a larger number of serves or you can make multiple bags of recipes for more future meals.

  • Storage: Best used within 3-6 months.

🎒 Bags & Containers

  • You can buy heavy duty large snap lock bags from the supermarket or you can also buy reusable silicone bags online. Alternatively, you can use containers.

  • Saving Freezer Space: To allow for minimal freezer space, I have moved tin/jar ingredients to the “on the day” ingredients list. However, you can generally add them to the freezer bag if space isn’t an issue.

  • The Meat Component: You can also leave out the meat from the dump bag and simply add fresh meat on the day of cooking. If you prefer to season, flour, and sear your meat before adding to the slow cooker, keep the meat separate or use fresh meat on the day of cooking.

🏷️ Printable Labels

The labels provided in the eBook can be printed on an A4, 6-to-a-page sticker paper (available from Officeworks or similar locations). You can also have them printed at OfficeWorks (ask for the specific pages to be printed onto A4 1up label sheet, then cut yourself into the 6 labels or can order it online)

  • Alternative Option: You can also print onto normal paper and tape/contact them onto the bag or container.

  • Eco-Friendly Tip: To use the labels more than once, you can print and laminate them to attach to your reusable bags!

🛑 Food Safety First

  • Cooling Sauces: Always make sure you cool any cooking elements before mixing them through the raw meat. You do not want to partially cook the meat before freezing!

  • Defrosting: Defrost your meal prep bag completely prior to slow cooking to ensure it reaches a safe temperature when cooking.

Freezer Prep Meal Plan Info – How to Make as a Dump Bag

Dump Bags have taken the meal prep internet by storm, particularly for people who want to have an easy dinner ready when they get home after work but don’t like the taste of reheated frozen dinners.

PLEASE NOTE: These ‘Dump Bags’ are for the Slow Cooker variations in the book – for use in actual slow cookers. They have not been written for the TM6/7 Slow Cook Function.

The Skinnymixers community have been asking for a dump bag collection of Thermomix recipes, but we don’t particularly love the term ‘Dump Bags’. So here is our version!

If you are time poor and wish dinner was ready for you when you walked in the door, then this might be just what you need!

FAQs

Do I brown the meat?

Traditional meal prep bags (aka dump bags) no they dont. But if you prefer to brown your meat I suggest you freeze the meat seperate so on the day you can brown it before combining with rest of the ingredients. For SkinnyAsia 2 we have some recipes we suggest you dont skip the browning step, so you will freeze your meat in its own bag or get the meat fresh.

Do I add the dairy?

These aren’t traditional dump bags recipes I have seen online (where they literally add all ingredients to a bag). We cook our sauces before adding to slow cooker to reduce and develop flavour (and in this case for bags – cool mixture first). So if there is dairy added its already cooked, if added later its noted on the slow cooker variation to add towards end of cook so this will be added on the day fresh – not frozen. If the meal does happen to split the cornflour mixture brings it back together.

What other meals can I do this for?

You can make utilise any of our slow cooker recipes or variations for meal prep bags.
