Tips & Dietary Needs
- Protein swap – You can try pork tenderloin.
- No Chicken Stock Concentrate? We highly recommend making Niks Chicken Stock Concentrate for best results! Vegetable stock concentrate will work. You can also replace the water with liquid stock.
- Don’t like one of the green vegetables – no worries, simply add more of what you do like.
- Boost the protein – Increase chicken and cook conventional or slow cooker methods. Adding additional chicken into the thermo cooker method can cause shredding. Other protein boosts include, adding crispy bacon and replacing cream with blended cottage cheese.
- Dairy-free – We love Flora Dairy Free Plant Based Cream.
- Low carb – Replace cornflour mixture with ½ tsp xanthan gum sprinkled in.
- Paleo – Replace cornflour mixture with ½ tsp xanthan gum sprinkled in.
- Go veggie – Replace chicken with 400 g or 14.1 oz Swiss brown mushrooms, thickly sliced. Add 1 tin drained cannellini beans in the last 2 min of cooking. Use vegetable stock concentrate.
- Low Fodmap – Omit garlic. Use garlic infused olive oil. Replace onion with leek (green part only), use compliant stock concentrate and lactose-free cream.
How to Serve
- What to serve with – Serve with your choice of cauliflower rice, rice or mash.
Storage & Meal Prep
- Fridge – store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheat – gently in the microwave.
- Batch prep – this is a great, saucy recipe to batch prep and freeze.
- Thawing from frozen – let it sit in fridge overnight, then warm gently.
- Make ahead – freeze cooked for up to three months.
