You can serve this Spanish Rice by itself or with some of the delicious recipes from the cookbook, to make a delicious Spanish Tapas feast.

A Little Taste of Spain: Spanish Rice

Paella is one of the most famous Spanish foods, however many people don’t know that the word “Paella” actually refers to the pan in which the rice is cooked. This is a traditional Paella recipe, cooked in the thermal cooker for a quicker, healthier version that is just as delicious and a dish you are sure to cook often.

  1. Made tonight to go with the chorizo and potato stew.

Left out the chorizo and chicken as we already had meat in the main. Otherwise followed all instructions.

Absolutely delicious, would be great on its own and was stellar with the stew.

    Good size portions.

  2. Just wondering would this be ok to freeze & reheat on the stove> We are going camping & looking for easy meals.

  3. Served this with the Peri Peri Chicken and it was delicious! I have a paella pan so I finished it in the pan using all the sauce. Highly recommend. We will have this regularly!

  4. Made this on Sunday night for a couple of people who loved Paella and everyone loved it.
So much flavour and super easy.
New favourite in this household – have already made a second batch to freeze for lunches

  5. Another simple yet amazing, great tasting meal. Bursting with flavour, would be great as a side dish but we also enjoyed it so much just an easy tea on its own.

  6. Aah Nik another amazing recipe! Followed this one nearly to a T and it was so tasty! Bought ingredients to make the Basque Chicken, came home and started making Paprika Chicken. I was a bit stumped at first what happened to the ingredients in the recipe but it wasn’t until I went to do the chicken that I realized what I had done. No matter! The base for your recipes makes a fantastic blending of recipes and tastes. Thank you for all the inspiration you give us in sharing your recipes and wealth of knowledge.

  7. Made both versions of this tonight! Used bratwurst instead of chorizo, didn’t add chicken as I paired with paprika chicken, still such lovely flavours and I added extra veg to both versions!! Regular and low carb! Equally delicious!!
    Thanks Mixers!! 😉

  8. I have made both the standard recipe and the low carb version, but there is a lot more liquid leftover in the low carb version. I don’t want to stir it all in, but it tastes so good. What can I use it for? I might reduce the amount of water added next time, so there’s less liquid left.

  9. Made this tonight as a side to serve with the middle eastern chicken drumsticks. I omitted the chicken. I also used arborio because it’s what I had and skipped the saffron because I didn’t have any and it was delicious. Next time I’ll try it with the saffron and finish it off in a pan so I can get that nice paella crust!

  10. Well the Spanish Rice was a HUGE HIT in this house last night. One kid ate 3 bowls! And wanted more but there wasn’t any left 🤣. I promised them I will make it again tomorrow night. Thanks 🙏🏻 Nik! Another hit!!

  11. Loved this recipe – so quick and easy and so tasty. No complaints from the men folk. Nik you are a genius

  12. Wow this dish is so scrumptious and easy to make. Love the depth of flavour. It’s a meal all by itself, if you’re greedy like hubby and I lol!! Thanks Nik and Team xx

  13. Wonderful! I used corn instead of peas (boyfriend has some weird pea aversion!) and probably double the amount of chorizo and chicken breast.

I don’t recommend using Aldi chorizo unless you like the flavour/spice…next time I’ll stick to buying from Woolies!

  14. This is a definite five star meal in our house, loved by hubby and my two young sons. Will be a staple in our house from now on. I love how simple and tasty it is. Thanks for another fantastic recipe.

  15. The first meal made from ALTOS and I am not surprised that we all loved it. This has to be my new favourite skinnymixers meal. I used chicken breast and riviana arborio rice and it turned out perfectly!
My husband and toddler managed to work their way through huge portions!
And I didnt have to buy any other ingredients! Already had the spices that I needed.

  16. Wow. We have eaten the Spanish rice 3 times this week for dinner.
And not once has there been a crumb of leftovers. I add a little more chicken thigh to ours and it’s sensational. The book purchase is well worth it for this recipe alone.

  17. Nic and her amazing team have developed an absolute gem with this one. This dish looks, smells and tastes absolutely stunning. I increased the chicken to make it more of a meal and will be making this very regularly … a great fit for any occasion

  18. Enjoyed making and consuming this recipe. I may reduce the amount of smoked paprika as the very fresh spice I used was pretty dominant. Will add more chicken next time to make it more of a meal. Unfortunately I did manage to really burn the bottom of the thermie…maybe a little bit of rice was stuck after I put the rice in the basket? Made and served with paprika chicken which wasn’t a hit-have commented separately under paprika chicken recipe.

  19. I made this last night for dinner, it was amazing! I used chicken breast and increased it to 400g. Thanks so much for this super easy and delicious recipe xx

  20. Absolutely delicious! Made this for my family while on holiday and it was devoured in minutes. Will definitely be making it again.

  21. Wow! Absolutely delicious. Even my 2 year old loved it. Full of flavour but not spicy. I added a smidge more chicken. We will add this to our regular meal list.

  22. Oh Nik,
    Why am I commenting?
    You love Spanish Rice.
    I love Spanish Rice.
Even hubby and fussy miss 6 loves Spanish Rice.
We all know how great it is.
    Fool on those who don’t.
    P.s. Spanish Rice ❤

  23. Another amazing recipe developed by Nik. It sure take me to Spain. Had authentic Spanish paella’s before and being able to do it on my Thermomix and still have all the flavours but with the practical cooker is simply amazing. Thank you!!!

  24. Wow. What more can I say!! Such delicious flavours in this – and every other dish I’ve cooked. The whole family devoured it.! Along with the warm olives, spiced almonds, crusted cauliflower, garlic aioli and the supreme 5* romesco sauce. Nik, you have created the most amazing recipe book. Thanks for all the effort you and your team put into this.. 💟

  25. Loved this! Made vego for me and meat for hubby! So much flavour and very filling! Have frozen the left overs so we don’t eat any more tonight!

  26. This was a huge hit in my house a flavoursome dish that looks great. I coupled it with the Chorizo and Potato Stew. YUM. Easily fed five adults.

  27. This dish is amazing , so full of flavour and so easy to make . The lemon juice at the end is a must, it just lifts the dish to a different level. I added prawns to mine yum 😋 . Thanks Nik for your never fail gorgeous recipes, you spoil us all.

  28. Absolute winner in our house

  30. An amazing dish packed full of flavour and hardly any arbs when using the cauliflower instead of rice. Another winner in the eyes of Master 5 and Miss 7 which means a definite winner for this mum! Thanks again Nik and Team for creating and delivering the goods!

  31. Another winner. Quick easy and eaten by everyone, including my super fussy 8 year old. I was hoping for leftovers but the husband “just had to finish it”.

  32. Absolutely delicious! So quick and easy and loved by everyone! I left out the chicken, as I was serving it with the paprika chicken, so didn’t use the varoma tray (just chucked everything in the basket and gave it a stir once or twice). Makes heaps so plenty left over for lunches…Perfection!

  33. Made this for lunch today it was amazing, so tasty and even had plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. You won’t be disappointed try this today it’s yum

  34. Nik this is the best Spanish rice I’ve had in a long while. Even fussy hubby loved it too.
Thank you for all you do and create for us to enjoy xo

  35. Absolutely delicious! Made with arborio rice and left out the optional saffron. Has already been a repeat meal because everyone loved it. Thanks x

  36. Spanish rice has replaced the fried rice on our weekly rotation. Ermahgerd!! Don’t forget the fresh lemon at the end!

  37. The Spanish rice has been a huge hit in our house ! My very fussy 14 year old had it 3 nights in a row. What I love most about it is the simplicity of it. A simple recipe that’s super quick and full of amazing flavours! The sauce is to die for

  38. This recipe is delicious! Hubby made of for dinner yesterday and we’ll definitely be making it again. Leftovers today were even yummier!

  39. I think this may be my fave skinnymixers dish!!

Incredible flavour, don’t forget the lemon and parsley at the end, it takes it to another level!!

  40. This was a huge hit at our house except for the rice hating 5 year old who only ate the peas, chicken and chorizo, but i didn’t expect any differnet from him. It will be a regular on our menu along with many of the other ALTOS recipes.

  41. Made the Spanish rice tonight. I was really looking forward to it. Bought the book and it was hard to decide what to cook first! The flavours are amazing and it was sooooo easy and quick to make. Just add lemon at the end and some parsley. Delicious!

  42. Oh the rice was delicious with the potat dish made with cauliflower and paprika chicken
Thank you so much for such delicious recipes ❤️

  43. This is probably one of my favourite Skinnymixer meals, if not THE favourite. Beautiful flavours and really easy to make (lots of feet up with wine in hand in between the steps). Everyone loved it. Thank you for a beautiful recipe!

  44. AMAZING!! Don’t forget the squeeze of lemon at the end…it makes an already delicious dish even more fabulous!!

  45. It was delicious! After seeing all the posts raving about it, it still exceeded expectations. I used bacon instead of chorizo and the more lemon juice the better 😋

  46. One word….. AMAZING. Do your self a favor and cook this for you and everyone you know… you will not be disappointed !!!!!

  47. Absolutely amazing. I added prawns also. Such great flavour and kids enjoyed it too! Will be a regular in our house. Thanks Nik.

  48. The yummiest Spanish rice I’ve ever had! So easy & tasty. Thirds requested by my son but none left! Thanks Nik 👍🏻

  49. An absolute hit in our house. Even the child who eats nothing ate some! I might add extra chicken next time, but the flavours were amazing!

  50. Made this tonight with added extras – Fresh calamari & prawns. From someone who has worked in a spanish restaurant, i must admit that this was better! Inhaled by all, i hope anyone who is questioning this book reads these reviews and tries the book as its 110% worth it. Be proud nik & the team ❤

  51. Made for dinner tonight – absolutely delicious, everyone loved it! Also used arborio as that’s what I had in the cupboard. Thanks Nik xx

  52. This is a great dish. Lovely flavor and so easy to make.
I used aborio rice as waiting on bomba from grandmas pantry.
    Thznks Nik and team.

  53. Made the Spanish rice for dinner last night and omg it was AWSOME. Eaten by 4 of us and every one enjoyed it. So much flavour..
thanks again for another yummy dish.

  54. Nikaline has done it again with this Spanish Rice recipe. It is nothing short of amazing in both texture and flavour. I didnt have any chicken stock so used home made vegetable stock instead- so cant wait to try it the way Nik intended it! Have a taste of the liquid before you pour some if it over the rice, its delicious. Can’t wait to try the other recipes from this book ❤❤❤❤❤

  55. Yet again, another fabulous recipe by Nik. This one was flavoursome and super easy to make, even my hubby said it was delicious yet he’s not usually a fan of this type of dish. I will definitely make this again.
