The Blackjack Beef Rub is the new low and slow beef specialty rub in SkinnyEntertaining.

The Blackjack Beef Rub is one of my new favourite rubs, perfect for SkinnyEntertaining’s Hollywood’s Brisket, Texas Pulled Beef & Peppers and the Mini Beef Wellingtons.

What makes this barbecue rub so black? The activated charcoal.

You can buy ground activated charcoal at Grandma’s Pantry Online or other speciality health/spice stores.

If you are unable to find activated charcoal, it is optional so don’t worry too much – the Blackjack Beef Rub will still taste exceptional.

As with all the SkinnyBarbecue Rubs, it is important to use cracked black pepper (pre-cracked from the shops) as it isn’t as strong as freshly ground pepper, it is just as much about the texture of the pepper in the crust and the peppery taste. It can sometimes be called Black Cracked Peppercorn or Coarse Milled Pepper.
