Middle Eastern Marinade

The Middle Eastern Lamb Marinade would have to be one of the most flavour packed recipes I have ever developed; my Dad, the kids and I managed to devour over 1 kg of charcoal barbequed lamb in one sitting. I don’t recommend that you do this if you are on a weight loss journey. This marinade is quickly made in the Thermomix and is delicious on Lamb, Chicken and Beef.

I like to serve it on a bed of my Jeweled Coconut Rice.

Dinner tonight was chosen by my mama – Middle Eastern Lamb Cutlets reverse seared on my @traegergrills Ranger. Served with home made pita breads, coconut jewelled rice & palak raita. So delicious 🤤 cheers to @thesmokingjoint for the lamb lesson 👌🏻🤘🏻 @traegergrillsoz #unsponsored #bbq #smoking #grilling #thermomix #thermomixaus #skinnymixer #skinnymixers #fusion

  1. I thought that I would marinate a leg of lamb loin and slow cook this. Has anyone used this marinade for this purpose?

  2. Amazing! I can’t be bothered messing up and cleaning the Bellini Supercook for this one and so just do by hand. I miss Aussie lamb… haven’t made since moving.

  3. Had a low fodmap version of marinade (swapped garlic powder for 10g of garlic infused olive oil and onion powder for 15g of the green part of spring onions) on oven bakes chicken drumsticks and it was delicious. The best part was the charred marinade left on the bottom of the oven tray. YUM!

  4. This was just as amazingly good as all the comments suggest – had it with the Moroccan Quinoa Salad from Book 2 (also excellent!) Just wondering how long I can store the leftover marinade (we only cooked enough frenched loin chops for 3 of us so have about half left)

  5. is there anyway i can buy just this recipe without having to buy the entire book ? reviews look like ravers and i really wanted to give them a go

  6. This was fantastic! I love the idea of cooking a leg of lamb in this marinade and will try that next time ! Thanks,

  7. We LOVE this recipe! I use forequarter chops and have done it in the oven on a rack a few times and on the BBQ with the hood down. So good with couscous with feta and olives and a crisp green salad. Yummo!

  8. I put this marinade on a leg of lamb and I slowed cooked this for 8 hours. Tasted amazing! If you don’t have this book (the healthy mix),, buy it now. It’s worth it for this recipe alone!

  9. My absolute favourite recipe at the moment! I’m not eating dairy currently, so just omit the yoghurt. It is so easy. If I’m feeling lazy I just mix up the marinade in a bowl so I don’t need to wash the thermi. I’m not a huge red meat eater but keep buying more lamb so I can continue to prepare these little beauties! If you’re on P2 get the frenched lamb cutlets and leave out the yoghurt for an indulgent treat. Yum!

  10. OMG what a flavour punch!!!! I was eating it out of the bowl….luckily there was enough to put on our loin lamb chops….next time I am going to do it with pork, chicken and lamb and have a full on middle eastern meat feast!

  11. Another winner!!!! Absolutely delish served with silky sweet potato mash. Love your work Nik 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  12. This is absolutely delicious! I used a pork shoulder, and marinated it overnight. I slow cooked the meat for about 4hrs before putting it into the oven, then made gravy with the juices from the marinade left in the slow cooker. Absolutely phenomenal!!

  13. Wow these were yum i think i will try a different meat next time just because i find getting meat from lamb really tedious and i honestly just wanted to inhale this marinade!! Finished it with the coconut jeweled rice (first time Ive had that yum!!!) Will do a salad next time I think. Definatley on a go to list so easy if you remember to prepare the night before my 9 month old was a big fan to.

  14. Well, isn’t that a taste sensation! I made these tonight with forequarter chops instead, and all I can say is I wish there were leftovers! Will feature many times in this house.
    Thanks again Nik x

  15. Hey Nik! Thanks for this recipe. We had the cutlets last Sunday night. Unexpected visitors, so we had to share. Everyone loved them. Next, bbq chops on Australia Day. Another win! Chicken breasts marinating now for tomorrow night. LOVELY flavours.

  16. Delicious! We cooked the marinated cutlets on the BBQ. This marinade will be a regular feature in our house. Thanks for a fantastic recipe.

  17. Amaze balls! It’s so good we have had it twice in the last week – first time using cutlets which were charcoal grilled then because it was so good I marinated a whole leg of lamb in it for Australia Day nom nom.

  18. So delish, I’ve done these twice this week using chops to reduce the cost a bit, they didn’t last long! These’ll be a regular bbq item now, and so easy

  19. What can I say . Another awesome recipe from Nikalene . I can’t believe how every single recipe from the books that I have made has been so yummy . The lamb cutlets were to die for . So good . Thank you so much and I look forward to buying any cookbooks you release in the future .

  20. Made these for dinner. Kids wanted to know why they haven’t had them before as they were much better than usual!
Delicious recipe which my whole family enjoyed. We had it with a salad, feta and cous cous mixed through.
Has become a family favourite 🙂

  21. Everyone from the husbeast to the baby loved these – and even the fussy toddler gorged herself, gnawing every last morsel off the bones! Only complaint was that I didn’t make more!

  22. This marinade is so tasty. While I love lamb, I find sometimes the meatier cuts can lack flavour. The depth of flavour of this marinade is amazing and incredibly delicious. I plan on trying this marinade on chicken too now, it will definitely be a regular in our house now.

  23. I used the budget chicken drumstick option and we cooked them on the Webber. All the boys were enjoying some Australia Day beverages and really loved them. I’m lucky that there was any left for me. I can’t wait to try it with lamb. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!

  24. I marinated chicken drumsticks this morning and baked in the oven tonight – absolutely delicious! Looking forward to trying it with lamb next time 🙂

  25. I made these for Australia day used BBQ Lamb chops as I didnt have cutlets. I marinated the meat a few days beforehand and popped into the freezer until I needed them.
Lets just say they were a crowd please and hubby requested the Lamb be done like this everytime.

  26. This dish was so flavoursome! I used chicken drumsticks and marinated for 24 hours. Thanks so much for the recipe

  27. We made these for my sons bday bbq on the weekend. They were the first to be devoured and I had to stop the men from eating them all so is girls could at least get to taste one! The kids didn’t even get a taste as they were all eaten so quickly! Delish!!!!

  28. Made these for myself and hubby the other night. Sooo delish! There were some left which we had cold the next night and the flavour was even more intense. This is going on the favs list for sure 😊

  29. I made this on aust day but I didn’t have cutlets so I marinated a full roast lamb. It was delicious. The flavors were amazing.

  30. We had these last night for our Australia Day dinner. Absolutely delicious!!! Will be a regular dinner in our house for sure!!

  31. I made these Aus day. I didn’t lamb alone !!! Huge hit! Can’t wait to make it again. Serving size is probably wayyyyy too small because no matter how full we were we kept going back for more ! So delish!

  32. Had this tonight. Marinated the cutlets overnight and they were so tender and tasty. Had it with Vegetarian Biryani Rice. So easy and quick.

  33. Seriously good. After marinating I cooked mine in the air fryer. I find I tend to overlook lamb cutlets usually but with this marinade, they came out sticky, crunchy and tender all at the same time. Served with Israeli cous cous salad and the whole family raved about it. Definitely make again!

  34. There aren’t enough words to accurately describe the INSANE party in my mouth that is known as Middle Eastern Lamb Cutlets. We had family visiting so I made this with the Chicken Za’atar and the Jeweled Coconut Rice. Oh Em Geeeeee…….thanks Nik for yet more amazing recipes!!!
