This Vanilla Bean Frozen Yoghurt is the perfect healthy, frozen treat to start 2023 out with!

This homemade fro-yo type dessert is so incredibly simple with just 3 ingredients, but so tasty! Making your own frozen yoghurt at home means you can add in whatever toppings you like.

It seems the humble ice-cream machine as taken the Skinnymixer’s Community by storm with many rushing out to find one at Aldi with their special buys.

We used the Breville Smart Scoop ice-cream machine in the Skinnymixer’s kitchen to make this Vanilla Frozen Yoghurt.

You don’t need a Thermomix or an ice-cream maker machine to make this recipe, you can use your blender or food processor.

Ingredients

  • 500 g Greek Yoghurt - (yoghurt can be doubled for larger capacity machines)
  • 60 g honey - depending on preferred sweetness increase to 100 g but taste first!
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  • Insert butterfly into mixer bowl. Add all ingredients and whip for 1 min/speed 3/MC on. Alternatively, blend in a blender for 1 min or whisk in a bowl until combined.

Ice-cream machine method

  • At this stage, you can either put your mixture in an ice-cream maker and churn OR follow below Thermomix method.

Thermomix /Blender method (no ice-cream machine to churn mix)

  • Freeze in standard ice cube trays. Once frozen, add cubes to Thermomix mixer bowl and blend for 1 min/speed 9/MC on  or until combined—using spatula to help combine. Alternatively, use a blender to blend on high (increasing speed gradually) for 1 min.
  • Tip: When it comes to blending/whipping time, you may find your mix melting faster if it is a hot day. Watch your mix and stop it early if needed and return it to the freezer.

Notes

Dairy Free: Use dairy free Greek Yoghurt of choice and increase vanilla to taste if needed.
Low Fodmap: Use lactose-free Greek Yoghurt and replace honey with maple syrup.
Low Carb: Use liquid low carb sweetener of choice.

  1. Just wondering if I could replace vanilla bean paste for vanilla essence. I have so many tubs of different ingredients for different recipes and don’t want to buy vanilla bean extract for something I may only make once.

    1. Yes. Store in freezer. To scoop you’ll need to take it out maybe 10 mins before you want to use it so it softens.
