Yiros is an extremely popular Greek street food here in South Australia. You may know them as Gyros—a Greek flatbread or Pita with delicious meat, salad and Tzatziki sauce similar to a Doner Kebab.

Each time I visit the butchers I’m so tempted to buy one of the convenient trays of pre-marinated yiros meat for a quick meal but then remember that it’s likely full of sugar.

By mixing together a few pantry staples and marinating your own meat, you have a meal that’s just as convenient and will taste better. We’ve included the Yiros Rub in the Basics section to prep ahead and make it even faster to get dinner on the table.
