San Choy Bao

Sharing is caring!

San Choy Bao is a low carb favourite for many, but the processed ingredients traditionally used, such as oyster sauce, make what can be an otherwise healthy dish full of preservatives and additives. I have come up with a quick healthy Thermomix alternative which I think that you will love.

I found this recipe a little dry and bland. We didn’t love it unfortunately. I usually love skinny mixers recipes but this one won’t be a regular in our household. We all felt like it was missing something. We gave it a go twice so this isn’t based on a one off trial. Sorry 🙁

Made this with 500g of prawns minced up, and added a little bit of ketjap manis instead of some of the tmari and the sugar. Soooo good! Will definitely go on high rotation!

  3. Yum yum yum!! Served this over rocket and spinach as I didn’t have any salad leaves and it was beautiful!! Will definitely be a regular in this house 🙂

  4. Planned a somewhat romantic evening with the man (working parents) as we hardly ever have time with out our intruder (3 yr old son). We loved it. I made modifications and made something similar to the pork mince but also with sliced chicken. Also had small dishes on side of chillies, cashews, prawns, limes, coriander and noodles with bean sprouts. My hubby is still thanking me for it in the morning. I asked what’s he making for breakfast – I’m still waiting!

  5. I whipped this together in the blink of an eye last night. It was delicious. Definitely a great ‘after work’ meal. So easy and so much flavour !

  6. YUM, OH YUM! THIS RECIPE IS DA BOMB NIK, YOU’VE DONE IT AGAIN!
THANK YOU, MY SON (23) WANTS THIS ADDED TO OUR WEEKLY MEALS!
I LOVE NOT ONLY THE FLAVOURS BUT THE SIMPLICITY AND FRESHNESS OF THIS DISH.
A FEW CRUSHED NUTS OVER THE TOP MAKE A GREAT ADDITION TOO.
