Ingredients

  • 1.7 kg deboned leg of lamb - trimmed of excess fat
  • 120 g brown onion - peeled and halved
  • 5 garlic cloves - peeled
  • 1 tbsp mild paprika
  • 1 tbsp of fresh oregano leaves
  • 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary leaves
  • 4 strips of lemon rind
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tsp dried dried oregano leaves
  • 1 tsp dried mint leaves
  • 1 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp black cracked pepper

Instructions

  • Please note, this recipe needs to be prepared in advance
  • Add onion, garlic, paprika, fresh herbs, lemon rind, dried spices, salt and pepper to mixer bowl with 50 g water. Blend for 30 sec/speed 8/MC on.
  • Rub marinade mixture into leg of lamb and refrigerate overnight to marinate.
  • Brown lamb well in a medium to high heat non-stick pan, without any oil.
  • When lamb is browned, remove to slow cooker bowl.
  • If there are any yummy herbs and spices left behind in the pan, add 1/2 cup of water, 1 tsp of vegetable stock concentrate and scrape up any herbs and spices left behind. Add to slow cooker bowl.
  • Cook for 7 hours on low temperature.

Notes

Serve with extra lemon juice and the liquid from the slow cooker bowl - this is the best gravy you'll ever taste! For a beautiful summer meal, serve with home made tzatziki and a greek salad.
A 1.7 kg or 60 oz roast will yield 17 serves of lamb on HCG Protocol.
I didn't use oil to brown the lamb, but if you want to you can!

slow cooked greek lamb thermomix recipe

  1. Cooked this for friends last night and everyone loved it! The gravy was absolutely delicious, and I had hardly any leftovers as we all had seconds.

I’ll definitely be cooking it again.

  2. Well I removed the net, marinated over 2 nights & this was devine. Thank you Nikalene, my first lamb dish in over 22years.. My new HCG tastebuds & your recipes are in heaven.

    Your a genious xx

  3. I see Nik is a bit busy ATM with her book release. Hoping someond can help me here?? Would it be ok to keep the Lamb marinating for 2 nights? And mine is in a net-do i cook in the net or remove it?? Thanks lovelies x

  4. Made this a few times now. It’s delicious. I freeze in individual portions and use while doing HCG protocol.

  5. Yum! I have made this a few times now. Even tastes great when only marinated for an hour or so rather than overnight. I usually serve it with some Greek dips, salad and pita bread.

  6. AMAZING! Cooked this with the bone in and it teased me all day with it’s delicious aroma. My whole family loved it, my 2 yr old daughter had three serves of the meat!
Thank you so much for this recipe 🙂

  7. This was loved by the whole family tonight. We skipped the garlic and I just added extra of all the spices. I dont have a slowcooker so used the pressure cooker. I only put it together to marinate this morning then at 4.30pm put it in the pressure cooker for 2 hours. I could have used the dutch oven and slow cooked it all afternoon but wanted it to marinate it as long as possible.

  8. Just marinated this for the first time, I subbed beef topside as I am not a lamb fan, the marinate smells awesome, can’t wait. Thanks Nik, you rock my kitchen
    x

  9. So a friend of mine passed this recipe onto me and it was successful to say the least!!!!!
I turned it into a stew with orzo pasta and green beans and it rivalled his Greek grandmothers! We won’t be telling her this..!
    My husband’s comment……..you’ve nailed this!!!

  10. I bought a leg of lamb with a bone in it. deboned it and trimmed all the fat off the lamb. I couldn’t get dry mint leaves so put in more Rosemary and oregano. The rub smelt amazing and I was salivating while it was cooking away. I used my Breville Flavour Maker and cooked it for 9 hours (hubby was late from work) on low. When I turned it off the meat fell apart but it was a bit dry (plenty of liquid in the slow cooker though). I suspect my slowcooker is a bit too hot even on low as the meat can be a bit dry if it’s not submerged. The flavour was also a bit muted, I’m not sure if this was because of my slowcooker.

  11. I’ve got two 1.5kgish legs, will I have to cook longer in slow cooker or will seven hours be good?

  12. Made this the other week and was soo tasty! I’m not a massive fan of lamb, but this was so good I ate the leftovers for the next few days! So easy to do as well! Thanks for your great recipes Nikalene. 🙂

  13. I made this last night with Nik`s Broccoli Salad and baked sweet potatoes.
I only had fresh herbs not dried and it was AMAZING !!
Tonight I am having it in pita bread with salad, hommus and tzatziki … can`t wait !
