Skinnymixer’s Agua Fresca is a refreshing Mexican fruit drink that will quench any thirst.
While we prepare for the release of our SkinnyAmerica cookbook, we thought you might like a Mexican inspired refreshment!
Agua Fresca is a super simple recipe blending ripe fruit, lime juice, water and a little sweetener. You may find your fruit is sweet enough and can skip the sweetener all together!
This recipe is for watermelon although you can use other fruits and add some mint or basil if you like too!
- rockmelon
- honeydew melon
- pineapple
- cucumber and mint – use equal parts water to cucumber
What you will need:
Can you make it into a cocktail?
When we shared this recipe with the recipe development team, the instant response was ‘How much vodka do we add?‘
Personally I would just use it as a mixer and add to your choice of alcohol. Adding basil or mint would be especially delicious.
Equipment
- Thermomix or blender
- sieve
Ingredients
- 700 g watermelon flesh - or pineapple, honeydew melon, rockmelon
- 200 g chilled water
- 40 g fresh lime juice
- 20-40 g sweetener of choice - optional - we recommend a light coloured sweetener
Instructions
Thermo Cooker
- We recommend starting with minimal sweetener and adding more to taste after blending. You may find your fruit is very sweet and doesn't require any sweetener. You can always add a little more and blend to combine.
- Add all ingredients to mixer bowl. Blend for 30 sec/speed 9/MC on.
- Slowly pour mixture through a sieve into a large container or jug, occasionally discarding the pulp to help it pass through.
- You can enjoy as is over ice, top up with extra water or top up with sparkling water (or alcohol of choice!).
