Skinnymixers Coq au Vin Blanc

If you are looking for a dinner to impress, the Coq au Vin Blanc from the Thermomix cookbook A Little Taste of France is exactly what you need. Coq au Vin is a very classic, rustic French dish that is usually made with red wine—but I thought that the Blanc or White Wine variation would be well received.

It is such a flavourful, comforting dish, and while I could have created a quick thermo cooker version for you to enjoy, I felt that I needed to do it justice and incorporate the traditional stovetop method.

Take care to choose a quality drinking white wine—I prefer a Chardonnay from the Burgundy region—to get the most authentic taste possible. I’ve found the French Chardonnays taste quite different to Australian Chardonnays, so if you aren’t a Chardonnay fan I strongly encourage you to find a nice French Chardonnay.

A Little Taste of France: Coq au Vin Blanc

This rustic classic French dish is perfect for a dinner party or a comforting dinner. It is unbelievable just how much flavour is in this dish. It is important to find a nice white wine that you would drink, as the flavour comes from the wine.

Made this with breast instead as had a kilo in the fridge. Amazing!!! I didn’t read the super skinny variation so cooked for full length of time and found that breast was a bit dry.
How long should I cook for if not reducing the wine?

  2. 5 stars
Absolutely delicious! I had hoped there would be a bit more liquid/sauce left after cooking, I might increase the wine and mushrooms next time. Served with mash and green beans dressed with Cafe de Paris butter. All guests wowed and husband vying for the leftovers tonight.

  3. Tastes amazing 🙂 I used the wine I received from my mother for Christmas as i’m not a huge wine lover and it was so good.
