skinnymixers sweet and sour sauce
My kids LOVED the Sweet & Sour Dipping Sauce - I hope you do too!

Sharing is caring!

skinnymixer’s Sweet & Sour Dipping Sauce is the perfect sauce for those Hidden Veg Chicken Nuggets from The Healthy Mix Dinners!

When I ask my kids what they want to order for takeaway, the answer is ALWAYS chicken nuggets with McDonalds Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce.

It almost feels like it’s a rite of passage for kids to go through the nuggets phase of childhood – honestly do we ever grow out of it though?

While getting takeaway is a great quick dinner option, two of the best things about the Hidden Veg Chicken Nuggets and the Sweet & Sour Dipping Sauce is how easy they are to prepare and how much healthier they are to make at home – you cannot go wrong with hidden veggies in nuggets!

Where can I find the Hidden Veg Chicken Nuggets recipe?

The Hidden Veg Chicken Nuggets can be found in the Takeaway section of the cookbook The Healthy Mix Dinners.

Not only do they have hidden vegetables, the batter is amazing as a gluten-free batter. So if you have dietary concerns – you definitely need to try this recipe!

The Healthy Mix Dinners is the cookbook we all need right now – whether you’re trying to feed your family healthy meals on a budget or get dinner out fast – I know you’ll love The Healthy Mix Dinners!

Does the Sweet & Sour Dipping Sauce taste like the one you buy?

When we created this recipe we did a side by side taste test… Yes it tastes like a copycat recipe for the famous golden arches Sweet n Sour Sauce but everyone in the test kitchen agreed it somehow tasted better.

What ingredients are you using?

Any apricots jarred or tined in juice (not syrup or nectar), pineapple juice from a carton or tin (also not syrup) and French’s Classic Yellow Mustard. For example:

When you make it, I’d love to hear what you think?

Pineapple - if you have a pineapple allergy, mango juice has been tested and is delicious!
Mustard Powder - we have also tested using mustard powder instead of the yellow mustard and it was also delicious.
