Sambal Oelek Thermomix Recipe

Sharing is caring!

There have been quite a few posts in Skinnymixers about what to make with chillies lately, so I thought I would share my Sambal Oelek recipe for the Thermomix™. This recipe was created for my best-selling cookbook, ‘A Little Taste of Asia’ but I felt it was too simple to include in the cookbook. Sambal Oelek is a spicy condiment which is great to have in the fridge if your family have different spice preferences. The perfect condiment to have with my Vietnamese Pho or Curry Mee Laksa.

  1. I have an abundance of small thai chilies, Should I adjust the quantities or keep the same as large red chillies?

    1. Hi Sally, small Thai chillies are a LOT hotter than the large red chillies so you will end up with a very spicy sauce. If you are ok with a super hot sauce, then I would keep it the same. It will be tricky to reduce the amount of chillies as you may find they don’t chop very well.

  2. I haven’t tried this recipe yet, but I love Sambal Olek cooked simply with lots of onions, protein of choice which could include boiled eggs, and some coconut cream….this over cauliflower rice or even just steamed veg is great and so so quick and easy.

Sambal must have the sweet element tho…even if it is xylitol….
